Range and Performance
GM's X76 electric drive unit powers the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt through a single front-mounted motor generating 210 horsepower. The permanent-magnet design uses minimal rare-earth materials to control costs. Segmented magnets reduce heat buildup and energy loss. Silicon carbide inverter materials maximize efficiency between the battery pack and drive unit. A 65-kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery stores energy and delivers an estimated 410 kilometres of range on a full charge. This battery chemistry handles regular charging to full capacity while maintaining durability and keeping costs reasonable. The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt becomes the first Chevrolet model equipped with a native NACS charging port, providing direct access to rapidly expanding fast-charger networks. DC fast-charging capability reaches 150 kW, allowing the battery to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 26 minutes. This charging speed is approximately 2.5 times faster than that of the previous generation. A blended regenerative braking system captures energy during deceleration and returns it to the battery, extending the vehicle’s range. Front-wheel drive delivers power to the pavement while the compact electric drivetrain maintains a low centre of gravity for impressive handling.
Features and Technology
The Chevrolet Bolt cabin looks and feels contemporary and inviting without being polarising. The cabin receives comprehensive updates centred around two large display screens. An 11.3-inch diagonal touchscreen manages infotainment functions while an 11-inch driver information centre presents key vehicle data. Google built-in enables voice control through Google Assistant for navigation, entertainment, and other functions without using hands. The system provides real-time travel information and charging recommendations for trip planning. When parked, occupants can access streaming services, gaming, and web browsing through the touchscreen. The centre console gains additional space and cup holders sized for modern insulated tumblers. Evotex seating material comes standard on RS models and is available as an option on the LT. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel provide comfort during colder months. Ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and a panoramic sunroof are available features. Multicolour ambient lighting allows cabin atmosphere customisation. Underfloor storage adds up to 113 litres of cargo space beneath the main load floor. USB-C ports throughout provide modern device connectivity. Available Super Cruise driver assistance capability offers hands-free highway driving with automatic lane changes and route following, backed by a three-year trial period.
